With the defeat suffered last night in the Milan derby against Inter, which was valid for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, AC Milan's dream to reach the final has faded. Now the focus is on the league: there are three matches remaining: Sampdoria, Juventus, and Verona. Winning them all is a must to try to reach fourth place, which would mean returning to play in the Champions League in the 2023-2024 season. It would be very important for various reasons.

Our focus today in the Milan transfer market is particularly on defence. The fact is that the Rossoneri will be on the hunt for a new left-back who can replace Fodé Ballo-Touré and perform the role of a perfect backup to Theo Hernández, as well as a new center-back. Pioli's team already has Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori, Simon Kjær, Matteo Gabbia, and Pierre Kalulu. However, the performances of the Frenchman as a center-back this season have been unsatisfactory, and there is talk of returning him to his original right-back position. Therefore, the Rossoneri need a defender who can complete the package with the ones already mentioned.

AC Milan is monitoring many profiles as options for the transfer market window. However, the latest rumour, reported by 'FootballNews24,' concerns the renewed interest of the Rossoneri in Merih Demiral, who is 25 years old, a Turkish central defender who plays for Atalanta.

AC Milan already negotiated with him a couple of years ago when the player was with Juventus. However, the Rossoneri always considered the 35 million euros asking price proposed by the 'Old Lady' at the time to be too high. Now, Demiral, who is at odds with Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini and is under contract with 'La Dea' until June 30, 2025, could leave for half the price. And AC Milan seems to be seriously considering it, as relayed via PianetaMilan.it. So far this season with Atalanta, he has featured in 27 matches, with 1 goal scored.
