AC Milan are active in the transfer market and their latest feat is landing Yunus Musah who is set to join the club soon while Rebic has left to Besiktas. That is not all, there are still moves being planned by the club management. Right now, the priority is to sell unwanted players and then add a few more signings to reinforce the team.

there is, however, another project that runs parallel to this strategy and involves the defense, which intertwines with a player who is currently essential for the team but is being carefully considered by all parties involved: Simon Kjaer.

The Danish centre-back has been crucial in the last two seasons, both for his personality and leadership in the locker room. He has been a reference point and a solid presence after Ibra. However, the knee injury he suffered last year caused Kjaer to slide down Stefano Pioli's hierarchy, who discovered the strength of Malick Thiaw, has Tomori as a cornerstone, and Kalulu as the first solid alternative.

Today, the former Atalanta player is the fourth defensive choice, and although he hasn't requested a transfer, he is evaluating the prospects that may offer him more playing time in the year leading up to the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

According to what is reported by Calciomercato.com, AC Milan want to be prepared in case Kjaer leaves and they are exploring the market in search of a strong and promosing talent for the centre-back role. Many names are being linked, such as Maxime Estève, a left-footed defender who is 21 years old.

Estève, who was linked in 2022 with Milan, plies his trade for Montpellier in Ligue 1. He is valued at 6 to 7 million euros, which is deemed high for Milan considering that he would be a fourth choice defender in case they sign him. The signing is expensive for AC Milan, especially if no sales take place.
