The midfield area is still a work in progress for AC Milan, despite the recent acquisition of Yunus Musah from Valencia. The potential departure of Rade Krunic, who already has a preliminary agreement with Fenerbahçe, could force the Italians to consider signing someone else in that department.
Among the profiles followed by Milan scouts are Nicolas Dominguez from Bologna and Youssouf Fofana from Monaco, a player Moncada has been tracking since his Strasbourg days.
Youssouf Fofana, born in 1999 in Paris to Malian and Ivorian parents is a skilled player with important physique that helps him to be a distinguished threat in midfield. His future is yet to be decided and his contract is due to run out in June 2024 (Monaco have an option to extend it by one year). Since Monaco will not be participating in any European competitions in the new season, they could let him leave, as per Calciomercato.com.
Fofana was signed by his current club for 15 million euros 3 and a half years ago from Strasbourg. Now, however, he is valued over 20 million euros. There was strong interest in him from West Ham, but they opted to sign Edson Alvarez from Ajax. Now, Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain have him on their radar. Only time will tell if AC Milan will try to pursue his signature now.
