Olivier Giroud is certainly one of the most successful signings for AC Milan in recent years. He played a key role in the team's Serie A title win two seasons ago, scoring some really 'clutch' goals along the way, including a brace in the derby, a goal against Napoli, and two goals on the final day of the season against Sassuolo.
Giroud recently turned 37, and his contract with Milan expires in June 2024. However, the club is reportedly ready to negotiate a contract extension.
As per what is reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition, Giroud is very attached to Milan and has never hidden his desire to remain in the city. The extension would be for one more year, meaning his new contract would be running until June 2025.
No official offer, however, has been sent by AC Milan managers just yet. But, we can expect it to arrive soon.
If Giroud is currently the starting striker, he would be the backup next season. Milan's goal in the next summer transfer window is to sign another reliable and strong striker.
AC Milan could even try to sign a striker in January...
The Rossoneri club management could also decide to bring in a new centre-forward in January's transfer market window.
It is no secret that the club tried to sign Mehdi Taremi from Porto at the end of August. It is possible that Milan could revive their interest in the Iranian, whose contract expires in June 2024. Other options are currently unknown, but it is certain that Milan will sign a new striker to be the starter.
