AC Milan are very close to securing the arrival of Matija Popovic, the talented attacking midfielder who is now officially a free agent as his contract with Partizan Belgrade expired at the end of the 2023 year.
The Rossoneri club will be the player's destination, unless any surprises happen.
According to the latest updates published by Calciomercato.it, the Serbian talent will be in Milan with his entourage after the Epiphany (January 6) which will coincide with his birthday (he will turn 18 on January 8). That's when the procedures of his transfer to the club will be finalised.
There was an initial hesitation from the Italians because of the issue of the non-EU passport. But, it seems that the intention of signing the player is now clear.
Matija Popovic is also much-appreciated by the likes of FC Barcelona and Premier League side Manchester City. However, he has chosen to join AC Milan on a contract that will bind him to the club until the summer of 2028.
