Speaking to the media shortly before the UEFA lunch meeting with Rennes' executives, Milan's president Paolo Scaroni discussed several topics regarding the current situation of the Rossoneri.

Here are his words, as relayed by Milan News:

"I'm anxious as always, but what can we do? We are playing well, we are winning, so I have a level of optimism."

Europa League importance for Milan, economically, financially, football-wise, managerially:

"It's very important. We have never won the UEFA Cup, among other things. Then there are some great teams, like Liverpool. It won't be an easy path, but it's very important for us, and Pioli confirmed it yesterday."

On the idea of 18 clubs in Serie A, Scaroni said:

"The theme revolves around the number of games we play. We need to limit the number of games to safeguard the health of the players, who are also our assets. Since international competitions are increasing, and now there's the big novelty from FIFA, but even the Champions League has increased the number of games. In the end, if we sum up cups, national leagues, and championships, we play too many games. I personally think this is an inevitable path; it will happen because it's fated to happen. I don't forget that the moment with 18 teams was a heroic moment for Italian football."

On Urbano Cairo's dig mentioning a "Mini Super League" regarding the Serie A with 18 teams:

"I didn't understand what the 'Super Mini League' has to do with the Serie A with 18 teams. Next time I see Cairo, I'll have him explain it to me."

Regarding Stefano Pioli's future:

"We are very happy to have him on the bench. Moreover, we are also doing well, so it's an improper question."

On the San Donato project and what should the next step be?

"We don't have a problem with San Siro. If I could renovate San Siro and have Milan and Inter move to a stadium 30 km away for a year, I would gladly do it. I don't understand, however, how such a thing is possible and have sixty thousand people on a construction site one or two times a week. At the moment, I frankly don't see this possibility. San Donato? Things are progressing. Everything is fine."
