According to what Manuele Baiocchini reports for Sky Sport Italia, the casting for AC Milan's next coach after Stefano Pioli is narrowing down: after rejecting Julen Lopetegui and choosing not to contact profiles like Roberto De Zerbi and Antonio Conte, the focus is now on three Portuguese profiles. They are Sergio Conceicao, Ruben Amorim, and, to a lesser extent, Paulo Fonseca.
The current Porto coach, Conceicao, is appreciated for his style of play, international experience, character, and ability to develop young players. He was President Pinto Da Costa's man, but the Porto elections were won by AndréVillas-Boas, with whom there was never a strong connection. He can be freed with a unilateral clause in his contract, which runs until 2028. There have been contacts.
Ruben Amorim is highly regarded and considered one of the best "young coaches" by the Rossoneri management. He seemed destined for Liverpool, but nothing came of it; he then had a meeting with West Ham, but again, nothing came of it. The costs are significantly high, even to release him from Sporting Lisbon, and for now, there don't seem to be any specific breakthroughs. It's difficult, but not impossible to bring him to Milan.
In the background is former Roma coach and current Lille manager Paulo Fonseca: he is certainly the most similar profile to Pioli and has already had experience in Italy.
