AC Milan will fly to Australia on May 28 for a friendly match against Roma: who will travel with the team?

The league season has barely concluded, and some Serie A teams are already preparing for the next season. AC Milan will be heading to Australia on Tuesday, May 28, for a tour that includes a friendly match against Roma.

The Rossoneri finished their league season in second place with 75 points after an exciting 3-3 draw against Salernitana at San Siro.

That match was the last for Stefano Pioli and his staff on the Milan bench, as well as for several players like Olivier Giroud, Simon Kjaer, and probably also Mattia Caldara and Antonio Mirante.

With farewells, injuries, and the upcoming national team commitments for the 2024 European Championships, who will travel for the training camp and the friendly against Roma?

Milan, who is going to the friendly against Roma in Australia?

The team will meet on Tuesday, May 28, at Milanello, then depart from Malpensa for Australia. As mentioned, Stefano Pioli and his staff will not be there, having already bid farewell to the Rossoneri fans. Bonera and a few other collaborators will remain, as part of the early trials for the soon-to-be-formed Milan U-23 team.

Among the players, Ismael Bennacer and Samuel Chukwueze will not travel, having had little rest between club and Africa Cup of Nations commitments. Maignan will also be absent due to a hand injury sustained in training. The rest of the squad will have a meeting with management to decide who will travel, with key players wanting to avoid risks ahead of the European Championships in Germany.

The Rossoneri have signed financial agreements to organise the friendly against Roma in Australia. This includes the star players, who, however, do not want to risk their safety with imminent national team commitments and would prefer to have a few days of rest after an intense season.

Final decisions by the club and players will be made on Tuesday, May 28, when the list of convocations will be released in the morning. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be present, accompanying the team while the rest of the management focuses on the new head coach search.
