AC Milan Women’s team are back to the winning ways but only after a little scare as the San Marino Academy broke the deadlock with Corazzi from the penalty spot in the beginning of the second half of the game. It took only five minutes to the rossonere to equalize from a long-rage effort by defender Spinelli and then, it’s was time a Natasha Dowie show as the English striker scored a brace and gave Tamborini a assist for her first goal of the season, setting a 4-1 comeback win for Milan.
The player ratings:
Korenciova (6) – She was a mere spectator in the first half and made a single save then. Being her, perhaps could have done a better to save the penalty.
Vitale (5) – Much like all the team, had a decent first half but made a poor decision that could have cost dearly. At the 60th minute was replaced by Tucceri-Cimini (6,5) who, in the first touch, delivered the assist to Milan’s second goal.
Spinelli (7) - Besides a massive defensive work, the #21 is one of the most dangerous players going foward both with good quality passes and finishing, and the 4 goals to her name this season proves It.
Agard (6,5) – There is no more words to praise her defensive awareness and positioning. Another rock-solid game.
Bergamaschi (6) – Held her own defensively and this time was more incisive offensively, but still lacks more precision on the crosses.
Simic (6) – The German displayed tactical intelligence and good passes, but the heavy field did not favor her game this time. Was replaced by Claudia Mauri (6), who once again showed great personality and helped the team to keep the pressure up field untill the final whistle.
Jane (6,5) – Fifi Jane is one of the best defensive midfielder in the game and yet again made this clear against the titane. Caroline Rask (5,5) replaced her after 81 minutes in the game and did what the coach asked, keeping the fort safe.
Veró (7) – The eternal engine of the team, a safe place everybody looks to start the actions, Veró displayed technique and finesse by providing Dowie the assist for her second goal in the match. At the minute 84 was replaced by young Tamborini (6) who came in and scored a beautiful mid-range effort and settled the final score.
Rizza (5,5) – Playing as an inverted winger, Rizza struggled in her first touch, sometimes giving away possession. Grimshaw (5,5) replaced her in order to switch the team formation to a back 4 defense, assuming the left midfielder role, and taking turns with Veró in the trequartista slot upfront.
Giacinti (5,5) – The captain this time had little to offer to the team in terms of goals and performance.
Dowie (8) – A real striker, scored a header, with her right foot inside the box and provided an assist to Tamborini. While her partnership with Giacinti is still a work in progress, when she gets in the zone and plays as the central focus of Milan’s offensive action, the team plays much better, building up the game faster.
Coach Ganz (6,5) – This time coach Ganz was very intelligent reading the game and quickly deciding to ditch the back 3 defense and adding Tucceri-Cimini in the equation as a left fullback, which was a game changer.
