AC Milan were crushed by Juventus 4-nil today and some recurring issues have once again emerged. Most of the rossonere had a lackluster game, failing to impose their games, to build up the game from the defense and letting a lot of spaces behind the defenders for the bianconere to explore.
Starting eleven:
Korenciova (6) – Did her best to avoid the goals, but the defense left her often on one-on-one situations.
Fusetti (5) – A poor performance by Laura this time, even lost to ball which ended up a goal by Staskova.
Agard (5,5) – Even one of the most reliable defender on the team suffered with the pacey biaconere offensive trio.
Spinelli (5) – Giorgia could have done better to avoid both goals during the first half.
Bergamaschi (5) – though she tried her best, offering constant supporting runs, I’ts another game she lacks with pass accuracy. After Ganz switched to a 4-3-3, she was moved to the left side, but still didn’t offer much danger.
Grimshaw (5) – Christy struggled to impose herself during most of the game, and often chose to play the easy ball or the back pass.
Veró (6) – Chosen to replace Jane as the regista, she lacks the defensive mindset to do it properly and both goals in the first half were born from spaces she left behind her. In the second half, she was able to come a little closer to the opponent area and created the greatest occasion for Giacinti to score.
Hasegawa (5,5) – The technique is there and there is no doubt about it, but those games require a little more physical strength, even to open more spaces to create something, that she cannot offer.
Tucceri-Cimini (5) – Much like Spinelli, she failed to defend correctly and had no impact offensively.
Dowie (5,5) – Fought for every ball, opened spaces between the defenders a few times, but often chose wrongly whom to pass and, also, committed a foul which disallowed a goal at the end of the first half.
Giacinti (6) – Another game of bravery, inspiration and character as captain, fighting until the last minute although, as a striker, she failed to convert the few chances created.
Substitutes:
Rizza (5,5) – Replaced Spinelli at the minute 50, thus allowing Milan to change formation to a 4-3-3 and made an impact until Staskova’s goal.
Vitale (S/N) – Stepped into the pitch at the minute 86, replacing a very tired Fusetti.
Coach Maurizio Ganz (4,5) – Ganz chose poorly to replace Jane with Veró, providing no protection to the defense, wasn’t able to overcome the problems that emerged during the game and did not use the bench when needed as the team faded away in the second half.
