As Manchester Evening News explained in an article, fans in Manchester do not seem to be too convinced of their full-back Diogo Dalot. Manchester appear to be in a position where some fringe players must be let go to bring in new talent. After finishing in second in the league, the club will look to add a couple new pieces to compete in the Premier and Champions League next season. To secure some of those pieces, 22-year-old Dalot could be up for sale this summer.
Dalot played in Portugal's U21 match up yesterday against Italy. The Milan loanee started at right-back, and played the entire match, including extra time. The Portuguese had two blemishes in the back, which allowed for two Italian goals. Fans in England were not excited with Dalot's performance in crunch time yesterday. The player will certainly have to up his performance this summer if he hopes to play for his parent club in England next season.
It has been reported that United would be looking to claim around 20 million euros for their player if they were to sell. While Milan enjoyed the player's presence by the end of the season, that could be an expensive price tag for a rotational player. Milan are comfortable with Davide Calabria at the right, and Theo Hernandez at the left, meaning Dalot would likely not be a preferred starter to start the season come fall. Milan will certainly be in chats with United this summer to get an understanding of the player's worth.
