As reported by CalcioMercato, Bologna player Jerdy Schouten has gained the attraction of Milan. Rossoneri scouts believe that Schouten would fit perfectly in to Pioli's scheme, and have been in contact with the profile for months now. The 24-year-old would be a great reinforcement to the midfield with the rumored departure of Soualiho Meïté back to Torino.
The player would play in behind Kessie and Bennacer in the double pivot midfield. Milan will certainly need depth in that position this year, as the two starters, Kessie and Bennacer, will be absent from league play for a month playing in the Africa Cup of Nations during the month of January.
While the profile seems like a perfect fit in Milan, Bologna are apparently not too willing to let a future star slip away from their club for cheap. Mihajlovic, Bologna's manager, has urged his management not to sell the player this summer. The club took the request in to account, and will reportedly only sell the player if a "super offer" arrives. The valuation of the player starts at 15 million euros.
Atalanta, too, have recognized the talents of the young player. The club will look to make an effort to sign the player this summer, and have assets to offer in return. The profiles of Piccoli, Colley and Lammers have been thrown around to possibly gain leverage in a negation for the player.
While Milan are strongly attracted to Schouten, 15 million could be a steep figure to pay when they will likely be spending more than that to fully acquire Tonali this summer, who plays in the same position. The Rossoneri will have to see how their financials are sitting, and how low Bologna are willing to go, before making a concrete offer for the player.
