As Corriere dello Sport writes, fellow Serie A club, Cagliari, is considering trying to take youngster Sandro Tonali on loan. Milan are currently in negotiations with the Italian's parent club Brescia right now, and are looking to get a discount for the player. Milan already paid a hefty fee for the player to come on loan this year, so it would be expected that the Rossoneri would be willing to complete the rest of the financial obligations to fully redeem the player.
If the deal falls through, however, Cagliari are apparently interested in the player, and would like to take him on loan for next season. Another, and easy, option for the Sardinian club would be to take the player on loan from Milan after the negotiations wrap up and Tonali is under Milan ownership. Cagliari are certainly interested in the player, and will be in discussions with either Brescia or Milan this summer.
Tonali played his first season for the red and black this past year, and showed signs of promise and areas for improvement. The 21-year-old played in a new formation with Milan, and is learning a new role. It is expected he will be playing behind Kessie and Bennacer again this season, but will certainly have an opportunity to start as the two players will be out for one month due to international obligations. Milan will have a decision to make on whether they want Tonali to develop at home or with a different club for a year.
