As reported by Goal.com, Arsenal have made an aggressive move already for Milan target Albert Lokonga. The midfielder out of Belgian club Anderlecht has been on Milan's radar for the last few weeks, as the player is only 21-years-old and has shown great promise in his 78 appearances for the club. Even football legend Thierry Henry has praised the profile, as he has had involvement with Lokonga in Belgian trainings.
Milan would like to continue the pursuit of the player, but may have stiff competition from London as Arsenal have already submitted an offer for the player. The Gunners submitted an initial bid of roughly 15 million euros, but it was rejected by the Belgian club. The dialogue between the clubs is continuing, and it is expected that Arsenal will make another offer for the player. Anderlecht is reportedly asking for around 20 million euros for their player.
Milan have been keeping tabs on young midfielders that can play in a double pivot. With just Kessie, Bennacer and Pobega currently on contract, Milan will need reinforcements to the midfield for next season. Lokonga is a strong profile that has shown promise in the Belgian league thus far. 20 million is an expensive asking price, so Milan will need to decide how their funds will be allocated this summer and if the money is worth putting in to the midfield.
Management at Casa Milan will already be putting up to 25 million in the purchase of Tonali, so it would be surprising to see another expensive signing in the midfield. Milan will monitor the relationship between Arsenal and Lokonga, but they could be behind in the race for the player right now.
