As learned by Tuttosport, Milan target Mattia Zaccagni from Hellas Verona is also followed by league rivals Napoli and Lazio. Milan have officially lost Hakan Calhanoglu to Inter next season, so management have begun the hunt for a new trequartista for next season's campaign. It has been reported that Brahim Diaz will be back in the red and black for another season, but Milan would like to add more experience and depth to the position. Zaccagni has caught the eye of Maldini and Massara, but the club may have some domestic competition for the player's signature.
Mattia Zaccagni has been a popular name on the transfer market lately. The 26-year-old is coming off of a 5 goal and 5 assist season for Hellas Verona, and many clubs have been looking at the possibility of signing the Italian. Milan could use experience in the number 10 role, and with almost 150 appearances in Serie A, Zaccagni fits that description. Milan will have to compete for the signature of the player, however, as the two aforementioned clubs have also shown interest.
No price tag has been announced for the player as of yet. Milan have been keeping an eye on the player, but there are yet to be any reported contacts or discussions with those in Verona. Zaccagni is expected to leave the club this summer, as the player has an expiring contract next year and the club will look to cash in for their asset.
