Davide Calabria has extended his contract with AC Milan. The new deal ties him to the Rossoneri club until 2025.
The Italian right-back spoke to Milan TV and said the following words:
"Milan is my second skin. This is my second family. I grew up here and I've been here for 15 years. I had so many amazing experiences here as a boy and as a player in the first team now. These are emotions that I will carry with me for my whole life. I'm happy to continue my journey and challenge together with the club. It is a pleasure and an honour."
"We are happy with the renewal", said Calabria, "Both myself and the club. We were able to reach an agreement. We are both very pleased with what we have done here."
On his growth:
"I've matured a lot. I have more responsibilities with the team now. It is a growth that every footballer must go through. However, it is not easy to achieve it in a club like AC Milan. I'm happy with what I have done, especially in the last few months. We got some great results"
On the recent performances:
"We've gone through a strange time. It's a period of pandemic which maybe brought the team closer together then we got back to show our fans all over the world what we can do. We are happy that we were able to achieve our goal last season and now we'll go again in the new season."
On Milan's return to the Champions League:
"It's definitely great for the younger players to be able to travel around Europe in order to face different European clubs in the UEFA Youth League. I have some amazing memories there, Ajax, Chelsea, Celtic, they are all great teams, and that experienced helped to further our growth a lot as individuals and as a team. Now, to be back to this competition as a first team player is fantastic, and I can't wait to get going."
On what to expect when finally playing the Champions League:
"It'll be very emotional to play in the Champions League competition, because it is my objective. We have reached this goal and I can't wait for it. I'm 24 years old and I can't wait for these nights. I can't wait to go play these games in the San Siro, hopefully with the fans."
On the fans:
"I think that the fans have helped us a lot by giving us an extra push during difficult times and especially towards the end of the previous season campaign. It was so good to see them with that enthusiasm. We had been missing that feeling for some time, and seeing them cheer for us outside Milanello is not something you get at every club. I hope to see the fans again at the San Siro with the same spirit"
On the future:
"There should be a beautiful future with ambitious aims. I think we do have the desire to show what we're all about on the field once again: to start strongly like the previous season but finish even stronger"
On the Italy national team's final game against England:
"I wish the best of luck to the national team. They have had a great run, when I was with them, it was a really good group, so they deserve the win."
