Italian international goalkeeper Laura Giuliani has officially been presented as an AC Milan player and on her first interview to Milan Tv, she addressed some important topics such as her mindset in every game, her role models and much more.
Here’s what she said:
On being at AC Milan:
“For me it is an emotion, to be here as a Milanese, to wear these colors always have a particular effect and I am really excited about the project and I can't wait to start this new adventure.”
On AC Milan’s project:
“Surely the project is exciting, especially a concrete project like this, concerned about the future of the team and, as a goalkeeper, I am really happy to test myself alongside the big names who have played here.”
On meeting her teammates from Italy women’s national team at Milan:
“I have a good relationship with everyone, so I'm really happy to return to the family. When I talk to them, I always have the feeling of knowing them for a lifetime, even if It’s not the case. This is definitely a good starting point. I talked to them, they wished me good luck and I can't wait to meet them.”
On what she brings to the team:
“I bring Laura to the full, and I bring my personality, my professionalism, also my vision of the role, my interpretation of the role in which communication is a fundamental part, therefore, I hope to interact at best with my companions, especially on the defense, to build a solid foundation and try to work in a group as best as possible during the season.”
On her take on AC Milan’s team:
“The team has always been a very compact, a team that runs during all the match, very physically, overly aggressive performance on all the balls. Upfront they have always had Giacinti, which in my opinion one of the added values of this team for her wickedness and, moreover, lately she has also grown a lot from a technical tactical point of view, of movements. Before the games I studied her particularly despite knowing enough and then, of course, talking about individualities, now they have taken so much quality in the midfield, they have all the credentials to do well.”
On playing in the Champions League:
“Listening to the Champions League’s anthem makes you shiver down to your spine. I believe that all athletes, all footballers dream of one day to play in this competition so, being part of it means being if you earned it in the previous season you and surely, we’ll be highly motivated, especially being the first participation for the club, for sure, the emotion will play a fundamental role, but working as a team and putting on the field all the excitement and turning those emotions into energy on the pitch, we will be able to bring home good results.”
On her mindset as a professional athlete:
“I am an athlete who never stops looking at the growth points that you can have. The fact of coming here in my opinion is a great stimulus for me, to go and improve certain aspects that maybe I have not trained previously or maybe have different requests from the coach, from the club. Consequently, being able to go to work on points where there is still room for improvement for me is really important. More than anything, I think that here there are all the necessary conditions to do well and then when there is work to be done, I always put myself at the forefront, so I am really happy.”
On her role models:
“My idol in the past has always been Buffon, I grew up watching his saves. There was also Casillas, who was one of the strongest goalkeepers in the world then, however, Buffon has always been my idol. I was lucky enough to watch also Dida a lot, when there was the rivalry with Buffon, then over the years I wasn’t fixed in just a single goalkeeper, I tried to broad a little my horizons, trying to go and take the strengths of each goalkeeper to create an ideal one for me.”
On her dissertation theme:
“’Number 1: Play with the mind’ was the core aspect of my thesis which is the psychology of the goalkeeper, then of all those psychological aspects that are the basis of the goalkeeper, of the role of a number one that then contains many facets within it. I thought of telling my daily life, then my psychological dailylife, therefore, the preparation for training the preparation, for the game, some tricks to ease the pressure, the psychological pressure before important matches or maybe the emotions. There are many aspects that, if not exploited in the right way, can bring you problems. Consequently, of course, studying these aspects specifically I realized how much of this stuff I already done myself without knowing that they were established systems, already in use. Instead, on the other hand, to distort or extrapolating some determined concepts and then, to put them into practice, I must admit that it has being very beneficial to me.”
A message to the fans:
“Hi, guys, see you soon at the stadium. I can't wait to!”
