AC Milan evaluated other profiles before signing Fodé Ballo-Touré from Monaco, such as Alex Moreno of Real Betis.
The 28-year-old Spanish left-back was chosen by Maldini and Massara as an alternative to Theo Hernandez initially but, Samu Castillejo was the one behind the failure of the deal.
According to what is reported by Footmercato, AC Milan management and Real Betis worked together to make an exchange transfer deal. Moreno would join Milan while Castillejo goes the other way and returns to Spain.
However, the negotiations did not even see the light of day as Castillejo refused the idea of joining Real Betis by lowering his salary.
