In today's edition, and as usual, La Gazzetta dello Sport granted the ratings of the players on the pitch and did not forget to review the decisions of the referee as well.
The referee, Daniele Chiffi, who directed the game on the pitch, had a good performance.
In the first real test of the game, the ref did not award a penalty to AC Milan after seeing Brahim Diaz fall in the penalty area after an intervention from Lucas Leiva who retrieved the ball from him.
After consulting VAR, on a different occasion though, the referee correctly awarded a penalty to the Rossoneri, which Franck Kessié failed to convert into a goal.
As for the cards shown during the match, Chiffi did well not to expel Tiémoué Bakayoko who, however, took a risk. In this case, the midfielder born in '94 was not sent off because his foot was low, his knee was bent and the ball was moved at the last moment.
Finally, there is no doubt about the red card given to coach Maurizio Sarri who confronted Alexis Saelemaekers and pushed him at the final whistle of the game.
