Yesterday, AC Milan were able to bring home 3 valuable points against La Spezia after a tough match in a hard environment. Stefano Pioli's men pulled through thanks to goals of Daniel Maldini and Brahim Diaz.
It was not the best performance from AC Milan, but it matters more than the team knew how to win and score goals.
La Gazzetta dello Sport commented on the match and awarded coach Stefano Pioli a 6.5 rating for his work.
The best player on the pitch, though, was Alexis Saelemaekers. The Beligian winger showed speed, dribbling and provided a crucial assist towards the end of the match that was converted to a goal by Brahim Diaz. Both of these players received a 7 rating in addition to Daniel Maldini who scored his first goal in his first official debut in Serie A. Rafael Leao made a worthy performance of that same rating, but he was unlucky to score. Pierre Kalulu, was also very impressive as he whipped out a beautiful cross to Daniel Maldini which he converted to a goal, also a 7 for the French full-back.
Mike Maignan received a 6.5 rating. He made an important performance as usual. Sandro Tonali displayed his skill and played a decent game and had also a 6.5 despite Spezia's goal being a shot deflected by the young Italian midfielder.
Alessio Romagnoli, Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, and Ismael Bennacer all were given a rating of 6 for their effort yesterday.
As for Franck Kessié, he has not been able to contribute with his usual strength as he did not the certainties usually seen from him in midfield. He had an underwhelming rating: 5.5, shared with striker Pietro Pellegri.
Ante Rebic, after an impressive start to the season, was not as good as expected yesterday. He did not provide much solutions on the left flank before the entry of Rafael Leao. The newspaper marked his performance with a 5. Olivier Giroud had the same grade as the Croatian and was voted as the worst player on the pitch for the AC Milan team.
