AC Milan hosted Atlético Madrid in matchday 2 of group stage in the Champions League and lost in a very frustrating and heart-breaking way.
Milan played very well and dominated in first half. But, Franck Kessié's red card helped Atlético Madrid take an advantage with a push from referee Cuneyt Cakir who gave a non-existent penalty to the Spanish team in the dying minutes of the game.
Luis Suarez, Atletico's striker who converted the penalty, spoke to TVE in an interview and said:
"Mario Hermoso told me to be careful because the Milan players were trampling the penalty spot to get a bit of an advantage, and I hadn’t realized it. Hermoso had been replaced, but the players are all involved because this is the squad. These are details that help a lot."
On the moment of taking the penalty against Milan:
"I am used to these kind of situations. But, I did not have one with such importance in the Champions League."
