AC Milan is looking for a new profile to reinforce the team in the defensive department and there is a new name on Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara's radar.
Alessio Romagnoli, who has been playing lately to replace the injured Simon Kjaer, is living a complicared situation with the Rossoneri because his contract is set to expire in June 2022. He is represented by super agent Mino Raiola and a contract renewal seems unlikely now.
The Italian club board is trying, therefore, to find a good replacement to fill the shoes of Romagnoli who is likely to leave the Milan team.
In this sense, according to a report by Calciomercatonews.com, Maldini and Massara are following the profile of Barcelona's centre-back Ronald Araujo. He is already in the shortlist in view of January's mercato. The Uruguayan player is valued at around 20 million euros and is represented by Edoardo Crnjar, agent and intermediary who also oversaw the passage of Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid to the Rossoneri.
For their part, AC Milan could try the usual loan route to land the talented centre-back and a deal could be done perhaps in January. However, the website cites that Barça are in significant financial issues and would like to monetise immediately and as much as possible with the departure of the player born in 1999.
