AC Milan managers, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will be very busy in the coming few months as they have to deal with players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the current season.
First, there is the coach, Stefano Pioli:
The dialogue is already ongoing to extend Pioli's stay at Milanello. There are daily talks with the tactician's agent. The Rossoneri want to continue together with the coach obviously and they have a clause that allows them to extend his contract by one year. Now, though, there is work regarding a salary adjustment.
2- Simon Kjaer:
The 32-year-old experienced Dane central-defender is one of the leaders of AC Milan's squad. There shall be talks inititated soon. Milan might extend his deal for 2 more years. Kjaer, for his part is very well and happy at Milan.
3- Franck Kessié:
Kessié's requests are too high for the Rossoneri management. There is, in fact, talk of 7 million euros as fixed yearly salary + 1.5 million euros in bonuses. Maldini and Massara are not yet to reach an agreement with Kessié's agent even when they are willing to triple the current salary of the former Atalanta midfielder, which is now 2.2 million euros.
4- Andrea Conti:
The club has no intention of renewing Andrea Conti's contract. The player is out of Pioli's plans and can even leave in January if he receives attractive offers. In July and August there were some exploratory polls, however, no club was able to convince AC Milan and the former Atalanta wing-back.
5- Zlatan Ibrahimovic:
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's renewal and future will depend on how he is feeling physically. For Milan he is a very crucial element and he is always welcome to further his stay. But, age is not a helping factor. Zlatan will decide and will know what needs to be done.
6- Alessio Romagnoli:
Romagnoli is open for a contract renewal. However, a deal remains complicated for the Italian centre-back who is represented by Mino Raiola. In fact, he is currently earning a salary of 5 million euros. The management of AC Milan will try to renew his deal at lower figures. Romagnoli will have to decide with his agent if he renews or if he should leave as a free agent once the contract runs out in June 30, 2022.
7- Pietro Pellegri, Junior Messias, Alessandro Florenzi:
These players are on loan at Milan with an option to buy. They must perform really well if they want to confirm their places at Milanello. For the moment, none of these 3 players have gotten into a good form. However, there is still plenty of time for them to turn things around.
As regards to January's transfer window, though, there is a chance that the Rossoneri club management returns to try for Romain Faivre of Brest. The player was very close to signing for Il Diavolo club. But, the French outfit decided to stop the negotiations with AC Milan. In January's window, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara could return to the French with a lower figure than the one which was proposed in the previous summer mercato session. Faivre is a profile that was not set by the club directors, but much will depend on the conditions of the rest of the attacking midfielders at the club.
