AC Milan finally won again in the Serie A as they brought home very valuable important points. The Rossoneri were able to put 4 goals past Empoli.
Stefano Pioli's side took the field with the following lineup:
4-2-3-1: Maignan; Florenzi, Tomori, A. Romagnoli, Hernández; Tonali, Bennacer; Messias, Kessie, Saelemaekers; Giroud
It was unorthodox to put Kessié as the playmaker behind the striker. Brahim Diaz, after some lackluster performances, had to be put on the bench. The manager decided to risk using Kessié in a more advanced position.
As for Empoli, this was their official formation:
4-3-1-2: Vicar; Stojanović, S. Romagnoli, Luperto, Parisi; Henderson, Ricci, Żurkowski; Bajrami; Cutrone, Pinamonti.
The game started relatively well, and there were some signs from both teams that they had the desire to really score and get their momentum ongoing.
Soon enough, goals started coming in from both sides, Franck Kessié scored the first goal in the 12th minute, and Empoli managed to get the equaliser just 6 minutes later after a beautiful difficult strike from Bajrami.
The match became difficult, but the Rossoneri continued to work hard and focused on attacking the depth of Empoli at the back. Finally, the big efforts of the team were rewarded by a goal, again from Kessié in the 42nd minute.
The second half started with Milan keeping up their momentum while Empoli were also trying to fight back and get an equaliser. They were even close again especially fter Bajrami hit the post with a very strong shot.
The full-backs of AC Milan tonight have done very well, especially in the attack, as Alessandro Florenzi and Theo Hernandez both scored on the 63rd and 69th minute respectively.
Tiémoué Bakayoko's performance continues to be highlighted in red as he came in tonight as a replacement, and thanks to his handball on a corner, Empoli were awarded a penalty after checking VAR, which was converted by Inter's loanee Pinamonti.
The last few minutes continued to be difficult as Empoli were pressing and trying to hunt for 2 goals. But the AC Milan team held their own quite well and they grabbed the win. 4-2 final result, a deserved victory for the red and black faithful.
