AC Milan management must now think of how (and who) to add to the squad of Stefano Pioli especially in defence. In the past, the club directors have enjoyed a great bargain that has paid off really well when they signed Simon Kjaer. The Dane defender managed to bring so much quality and experience that is helping the team grow.
Unfortunately, however, the former Sevilla and Lille star is now out until the rest of the season due to injury in the ligaments. The challenge in the mercato session is to find a replacement for the 32-year-old.
Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have a lot to think about. The defensive department is obviously a priority especially when Alessio Romagnoli's contract renewal has not been agreed just yet.

AC Milan adds a new target to their profile...
According to the latest news shared by Italian outlet Calciomercatonews.com, the Rossoneri club board has set in the agenda the name of Real Madrid's defender Nacho Fernandez.
The club directors will try to take advantage of the excellent relationship with Los Blancos to try and secure favourable deal regarding the signing of the 31-year-old experienced Spaniard. He can replace the injured Kjaer and even Alessio Romagnoli.
Nacho is an important player for the Spanish giants as he has featured in 18 matches (14 La Liga, and 4 others were in the Champions League competition). The centre-back, capable of also playing as a right-back, has even managed to score 2 goals. The AC Milan target has a contract that is due to expire in June 2023. Now, it remains to be seen what the stance of Real Madrid is on this front.
