The purchase of a defender could be postponed until June 2022. The Rossoneri's strategy is to buy an important defender in June: the favourite is Botman from Lille. So the club is not sure to spend more money on another defender, who would only play six months.
Milan have offered a loan with an obligation to buy Botman, but Lille have said no because they do not want to let him leave now. However, the French club are willing to negotiate the sale of Botman for next season.
The squad could then be left with Tomori, Romagnoli, Kalulu and Gabbia.
UPDATES ON THE SALES - As we anticipated Daniel Maldini could leave on loan. However, the deal with SPAL seems to have been blown up because the player could not have found much space as he would have had many competitors in his role. They want to develop Maldini in an ideal environment. The transfer of Castillejo to Valencia is still alive: Il Diavolo club has found an agreement with Valencia, however the demands of the Spaniard's agent are scaring the Spanish club (Castillejo wants more than what he currently earns at Milan). We'll see if the transfer will be unblocked in the last hours of the market.
RENEWALS - AC Milan have reached an agreement with Theo Hernandez. The Frenchman will renew his contract for four years. The renewal of Gabbia is also done. The management could announce both renewals after the end of the transfer window.
