AC Milan Women team beat Sampdoria 4-1 in a Coppa Italia fixture. Alia Guagni scored in around the 5th minute and Martina Piemonte made it a double in the 33rd minute. In the second half of the game, at the 61st minute mark, Lindsey Thomas successfully scored from the spot and Christy Grimshaw also got her name on the scoring sheet by scoring the 4th goal. As for Sampdoria, they only scored one goal in the the 12th minute.
Coach Maurizio Ganz was satisfied with what he saw from his team as he praised their efforts by saying the following to the media:
"For our part there was yet another show of strength, the field was difficult, I spent my childhood there and I know it well. In addition to that, we faced a respectable opponent, who is doing an extraordinary championship."
"I am happy for the goals, the determination, the desire and the union that you see on the pitch: if you help each other everything becomes easier, we have shown it", said the Milan's Women coach before adding, "I saw great availability. Now, in any case, the squad returns to the league and Lazio which awaits us before the break."
