Gianluigi Donnarumma spoke recently to La Gazzetta dello Sport as he discussed the move from Milan to PSG and said the following:
"Let’s say in summary that the last phone call from the club was to tell me that they had hired another goalkeeper. So that’s how it ended."
Last night, before the game against Lazio, Frederic Massara, sporting director of Milan had this reply of his own:
"It was a courtesy call. We informed him that we would be forced to look for an alternative after he refused a renewal and it seemed correct before formalising the purchase of a new goalkeeper inform him directly. It was simply a gesture that we thought was appreciated."
Now, Italian FIFA agent, Oscar Damiani, spoke to Radio Sportiva about this matter and had these words to say:
"Massara answered correctly. After a negotiation is made and an agreement is not reached, what should Milan do? Wait until June 30 without a goalkeeper? Milan knew about the choice made by Donnarumma. But now, he is complaining about the way he was treated. Milan did everything. There was an offer and he refused it, so they chose another goalkeeper."
