"New sustainable infrastructures are the foundations for building the future of football. And in Italy this is a step that must be taken. Football in Italy was at the top of the world 20, 30 years ago, but it failed to build the foundations for the future." This is how Ivan Gazidis started his interview with CNN.
"Today, football is no longer just a game for men. It is a sport accessible to all, always more women are approaching football around the world. It is a global sport, so it must evolve to be more inclusive. The first step is to have a safe and inclusive stadium where everyone can truly feel part of an event. The theme on the new stadiums led to the dialogue directly on the social role of football and on the issues of inclusion and diversity on which Milan has always been at the forefront."
On racism in football:
"When there are racist incidents within our stadium, there must be effective sanctions. And in the end it is the clubs that have to deal with these situations, because there is no one else able to implement this change on the pitch. If we look at the last 2 or 3 decades, football has been an incredible positive force."
AC Milan CEO, Gazidis, on the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic:
"Zlatan is aware that every year that passes he needs to adapt his physique and evolve his game to continue being important and performing at the same level. When he decides, I hope he can play his last game here at Milan. We have a special story with Ibrahimovic. He really gave something back to everyone, to the team and, in particular, to all the young talents who are growing in this Club."
