Téji Savanier spoke to Hors Terrain podcast and revealed an interesting background relating to AC Milan. The 30-year-old French midfielder of Montpellier revealed that AC Milan indeed sent him an offer back in 2018.
Here are his words, relayed by Milan Press:
"I was very surprised that many big clubs were interested in me, a Ligue 2 player, a 'local' player. After a season in Ligue 1 I had many great teams at the window, but I only had one thing in mind: Montpellier. Milan called me and made me an offer, but I refused. My agent told me I was crazy and it's true! My dream was to play at La Mosson (Montpellier stadium)."
Téji Savanier added:
"The Rossoneri offered me a lot more money but I wouldn't have been happy there, I'm happy here. Every so often, even now, when I think of the Rossoneri and San Siro , I feel like dreaming and I say to myself 'Wow!' but at that moment I was only seeing Montpellier. I made the right choice, no one can understand what I feel here."
Savanier is still playing for Montpellier currently in Ligue 1 with 7 goals and 6 assists to his name in 26 appearances so far this season between the league and cup competitions.
