AC Milan, last year, were heavily linked with a transfer of Florian Thauvin who was then at Olympique Marseille. The player had an expiring contract with the French outfit and Milan tried to secure his arrival to the San Siro on a Bosman.
In the summer of 2021, 29-year-old French right-winger Florian Thauvin joined Mexican side Tigres UANL to play with his friend and compatriot André Pierre Gignac there.
The World Cup winner spoke to Canal+ about the background with the Rossoneri and said the following:
"My future had to be at Milan, but they didn't know the budget for next season, they didn't know if they would be in the Champions League and they had important players to renew. That's why they asked me for time."
