It was an emotional game for all Milan players yesterday as they kept their Scudetto dreamalive thanks to a late winner scored by Sandro Tonali.
Coach Stefano Pioli expressed how proud he is with his players and said the following to the media yesterday:
"I’m proud of my players. The match was difficult and we approached it badly, against a quality team. There was a risk that it could end differently and badly, but we were lucid and eager. The result is heavy, but from here to the end it will always be like this. And we should always live the matches with this ferocity and with this competitive spirit."
One reaction in particular that also caught the attention of the AC Milan fans, though, is that of sporting director Frederic Massara. After the game was over and almost everyone headed to the locker rooms, the former AS Roma manager was sitting all alone in the bench as seen in the picture attached. He talked to Tonali then remained on the bench for a few more moments with his hands over his face.
