La Repubblica explain in today's print edition how the American company RedBird are very keen on purchasing the Rossoneri club. In fact, the news is that they have overtaken InvestCorp in the race to buy the club with an offer on the basis of 1.3 billion euros (reportedly, it may even reach 1.8 billion).
According to the Italian newspaper, Cardinale will have an important task once the takeover is complete. He must renew the contract of Portuguese star winger: Rafael Leao.
As per the source, RedBird will be immediately put to the test. The American firm should really be aiming to keep the former Lille star whose valuation has risen to around 60 to 70 million euros.
The potential new owners should succeed in convincing the player and his agent without falling into the temptation to sell him to finance next season. That will be Gerry Cardinale's ticket to the hearts of the AC Milan fans.
