Former AC Milan and Inter centre-forward, Hernan Crespo, spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport and advised AC Milan to invest in his countryman Paulo Dybala who is currently a free agent. The former Juventus has not yet found a club for next season, despite the fact that the contract expired 11 days ago.
The former star striker said the following words:
"Dybala would be ideal in Milan, he is precisely the element that is missing. He guarantees quality to the whole offensive department, he can trigger the game by interacting with the central attacker or with the two wingers, finally, he can conclude the action himself. In the Rossoneri form, namely in the 4-2-3-1, he is perfect: I am sure that Pioli would know how to use him and what tasks to entrust to him. Here, it is a question of understanding exactly how Milan will play: the coach wants a team always on the move, interchangeable positions, he asks that everyone is always active both in the offensive and in the defensive phase."
On the attacking midfielder's role in Stefano Pioli's module:
"I must admit, despite being a great admirer of Dybala, that he should take a crash course on how to behave when the opponents have the ball. In modern football, you cannot afford to give gifts, it is essential that he too learns to participate in the recovery phase. But I don't think this is a problem: he is intelligent, he knows how to make himself loved by his teammates, and above all he has a great motivation that drives him. Moreover, once you have regained the ball, with someone like Dybala you can go really forward: he speeds up the transition with a simple unmarking touch, opens the game with impressive ease and has a poisonous dribble."
Crespo concluded:
"His way of moving would also benefit the center forward, Giroud or Origi, and the two wingers, especially Leao. I repeat: a champion, and Dybala is a champion, it is always better to have him with you rather than against."
