AC Milan have secured their first win in the Champions League competition versus Dinamo Zagreb after a first draw against RB Salzburg in Austria.
The team of Stefano Pioli dominated the game and dictated the pace of it. The Croatians have held their ground well in defence and tried to stop Milan from playing their usual game. But, their efforts were not enough as a penalty was earned by Rafael Leao, which was converted by Olivier Giroud in the last minutes of the first half.
In the second half, Alexis Saelemaekers scored a great header after a cross from Rafael Leao. The pace of the match then got a little slower, but Orsic scored a goal and it was game on at that point for the Croatians who were aiming to get the equaliser. However, Tommaso Pobega, who entered in the second half, got a moment that any youngster who comes from the youth ranks of his club dreams of: scoring in the Champions League. He did so after a beautiful assist by French left-back Theo Hernandez. The game ended 3-1 in favour of the Rossoneri and they are now first with 4 points. Dinamo Zagreb remain with 3 points, obviously. Chelsea, meanwhile, will shortly host RB Salzburg in the Stamford Bridge.
Now, Stefano Pioli's boys can celebrate the win, but not for too long. Next challenge is a tough one in the league as they are set to face Napoli without the presence of Rafael Leao who received a red card in the victory against Sampdoria last weekend.
