AC Milan's star left-winger, Rafael Leao, has 7 assists and 4 goals so far this season in 9 games between Serie A and Champions League. He is certainly in his best form and the Rossoneri management only hope to be able to keep him for more years to come under a longer contract.
As per Tuttosport in today's print edition, if an agreement for a renewal with Milan is not reached by the summer's transfer window, there will be two solutions: either selling the player's card or letting him continue with the team and leave as a free agent. But, the latter solution is a worst case scenario and it is not looked upon favourably by the club management obviously.
The Italian newspaper, however, explain how the new Milan ownership have experienced first hand how Rafael Leao's impact is so unique and crucial for Stefano Pioli's team and system. RedBird, in fact, are reportedly willing to give him a salary of 7 million euros net per season, but not any more than that.
Chelsea, who were keen on him last summer, have got their hands on Christopher Nkunku now, but Leao still does not lack admirers. Besides, if he performs greatly in the World Cup, then many more great teams would be eyeing a move for him.
