AC Milan managers continue to think about Rafael Leao and how to finally reach an agreement with Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese left-winger is definitely a crucial asset for Stefano Pioli. He was the Serie A MVP last season and so far this season, he is confirming himself.
There are many interested clubs in signing him, including Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, as per Calciomercato.com. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara resisted any interest from other clubs last summer by simply referring to the release clause of 150 million euros (which former director Zvonimir Boban insisted to insert as he knew the potential of Leao) and not giving any discounts. Now, Leao's contract expires in June 2024 and it is important to renew it.
As per the Italy-based website, Leao currently earns just around 1.5 million euros net per season. The request is set at 7 million euros net. To reach such a high figure, Milan want to insert a series of clauses and bonuses. As for Jorge Mendes' part, he will try to insert a lower release clause, he will aim to reduce the 150 million euros release clause by 20 or 30 million euros.
