Gerry Cardinale set to launch a new sports fund worth 1 billion dollars

RedBird Capital Partners are ready to launch a new $ 1 billion sports fund. The Ankler's reporter Tatiana Siegel writes this, explaining that Gerry Cardinale's company would be in talks with former CNN president Jeff Zucker , with the latter having the task to lead the new fund.

RedBird's recent investments (in addition to AC Milan) include a stake in Skydance Media , a partnership with Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia to purchase - and relaunch - XFL, the American football league founded by former WWE CEO Vince McMahon; and a partnership with Epic Games and Nike to acquire a stake in SpringHill, the production company founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter.

For Zucker, this adventure would be new. After leaving CNN, many believed that the executive could still focus on an established brand like ESPN or - for example - a Hollywood production company. What is certain is that Zucker's more than three decades in the world of news and entertainment have laid some groundwork for a career in sports.
