AC Milan's Portuguese left-winger star, Rafael Leao, has a contract valid until June 2024. The player's contractual situation is a difficult one to solve because there is a fine which should be paid to Sporting Lisbon.
According to what is reported by Tuttosport newspaper, the player is asking for an important salary. He wants to monetise as much as he can in order to be able to repay his former Portuguese club.
As for Lille's part, they an ally for the renewal. The French don't want Leao to leave as a free agent because they are entitled to a 20% on a future resale of the left-winger. Besides, a strategy is being studied by Lille to contribute to the payment of the fine due to Sporting, in order not to lose the 20-25 million that would be due to them from a sale of Leao.
Another part of the fine then would be up to AC Milan to pay and a last part will be up to the player to pay. Leao, to date, is already paying out of his own pocket due to a 20% deduction on the monthly salary. But with an salary of 7 million net per season (the player's request for a renewal), everything would become easier.
