La Gazzetta dello Sport discussed AC Milan's terrible performance in last night's derby as Inter won the Supercoppa Italiana trophy. The newspaper pointed out the low level of Il Diavolo players via their ratings (see here) and commented further on their displays.
For the first time under Stefano Pioli's management, Milan conceded more than one goal in the first half for two games in a row considering all competitions (in Riyadh and in the last away league match). If the data also extends to the last international friendlies, the count rises to 18 goals collected in 8 games: more than two per match.
The heavy loss suffered against Liverpool, the brace of Arsenal and the three goals of PSV at the end of the year had turned on the warning light. Now the damage must be repaired once and for all. Pioli had already intervened by changing the pieces: last night with Simon Kjaer instead of Pierre Kalulu. But, the substitution had no effect.
Meanwhile, reflections at all levels should take place at Casa Milan. Read details here.
