In defence, AC Milan‘s department has suffered a lot in the last few games. The start of the 2023 year has been terrible for Stefano Pioli and his boys as they have conceded far too many goals.
A mercato ‘hit’ in the defensive area could therefore not be excluded as the central defenders in particular have not been playing in harmony together.
According to what is pointed out by the Italy-based website Calcio Mercato News, Paolo Maldini pays a lot of attention to the profile of Lazio’s defender Nicolo Casale. He is 24 years old, stands at 191 centimetres tall and has a contract with the Biancocelesti until June 2027. AC Milan could try to sign him in the summer transfer window.
The idea is to take a young talent who can learn a lot at Milanello and be monitored closely by Paolo Maldini, a bit like the case of left-back Theo Hernandez. Meanwhile, these two centre-forwards are monitored by the club in view of a transfer next summer.
