AC Milan have suffered yet another loss after a very negative performance displayed by Pioli's team. The Rossoneri head coach spoke to the media and said the following words, as relayed by La Gazzetta dello Sport's website:
"We wanted to have a more compact attitude, we waited for them, we didn't defend badly, but we had to dribble better. In the first half we had a low center of gravity, so the match was difficult. We found ourselves unprepared for the usual dead ball situation. In the second half we proposed more attacking football, yes. The lads worked well during the week. In the last period we haven't been compact in the defensive phase. We didn't want to play like this, we dribbled little and we weren't able to overcome their pressure. In the second half, I repeat, we showed that we can play more aggressive football."
Rafael Leao was left out of the starting eleven and entered during the second half. Head coach Stefano Pioli commented on his choice by saying these words to DAZN:
"He has great potential. Today I wanted to put the defense in difficulty with two forwards. I didn't succeed. However, despite the exclusion, I continue to aim for it obviously. I would take the same choices I made. I wanted to play with two close strikers and he doesn't have those traits. What's happening to us? Maybe we've lost conviction. We've come from two good years, but maybe we're not such a mature team. We have to start again from tonight. This is a defeat that hurts, but I think tonight we have found solidity and attention again."
