In his usual column for the La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper in this morning's print edition, the Italian legendary former coach of AC Milan, Arrigo Sacchi, has shared his opinion on the new system used by the gaffer Stefano Pioli. His words were as follows:
"AC Milan amazed everyone by deservedly winning the Scudetto by proposing a fun and modern football. Then something happened that wasn't difficult to predict: the success syndrome blocked the team. And Pioli too began to be afraid and, to remedy and stop the bleeding, he relied on tactics. Tactics, in Italy, still pay off, but one must always remember that, when faced with a strategist, a tactician always loses."
Sacchi added as he urged Pioli to firmly believe in his ideas
"Pioli was the architect who designed last season's splendid achievement and was able to win through intelligence and ideas. I hope that we return to that path and we can only do so if we firmly believe in our ideas."
