Alessandro Antonello, Inter's corporate CEO, spoke to to the media after this morning's meeting with Milan and the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, to discuss the stadium issue. Here are his words:
"It was an official meeting, the atmosphere was cordial. The main option remains San Siro stadium together with Milan, but today the Rossoneri club has officially communicated their formal interest in the La Maura area. In the coming weeks, evaluations will be made, then we will meet again to understand whether that area will be subject to development or whether we will continue with the original project, together with San Siro. Inter has always been consistent in recent years. If Milan were to move to another area, Inter would also have an alternative plan."
He added:
"The idea of building a new stadium together remains alive. Now we have to wait for Milan's analysis of this new area. As for the conditions expressed by the municipal government, we are ready to respond, but at this point, we have to wait for Milan's analysis."
On Inter's plan:
"If Milan goes to La Maura, Inter has a Plan B in another area and not at San Siro. The area has already been identified, but we cannot reveal it. It is an area outside the city of Milan."
On AC Milan's decision:
"Are we surprised? No. What surprises us is that we were proceeding together in this project, but when there is a change of ownership, there can be different visions. We have a clear idea of what we have to do. The future of San Siro? We cannot answer, you have to ask the Municipality. The timeline? Two or three weeks to allow Milan to conduct their analysis of the area, then we will meet again."
Antonello on Inter's chosen area:
"There are few areas inside Milan, one of these is La Maura. It is easier that they are outside."
