According to a recent report by the daily Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in this morning’s print edition, the financial woes of both Serie A rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan continue to actually increase as they have reportedly lost a staggering €150 million due to the devaluation of their players during this Serie A campaign. The Rossoneri, in fact, have been hit particularly hard, with the value of several of their players decreasing in the few recent months.
For example, the once highly-regarded Portuguese star left-winger, Rafael Leao, has seen his value drop from 100 million euros to just 70 million euros due to his latest poor performances on the pitch and ongoing contract issues.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea centre-back, Fikayo Tomori, who was expected to be a key defensive player for AC Milan, has experienced a sharp decline in value, dropping from 55 million euros to only 30 million euros.
Other players who have suffered significant drops in value include the Belgian playmaker Charles De Ketelaere, whose lackluster performances have caused his value to drop from 35 million euros to 25 million euros, and Yacine adli, who has seen his value halved from 10 million euros to a mere 5 million euros due to his lack of playing time.
While the devaluation has impacted both Milan and Inter, it is clear that AC Milan have been hit harder than their cross-city rivals. However, things remains to be seen as to how the Rossoneri club will recover from these significant financial losses and blows. But, one thing is certain: AC Milan will really need to take to do whatever possible in order to get back to winning ways this season and secure a qualifying spot for the Champions League edition of next season.
