In today's print edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, we read about how AC Milan's owner Gerry Cardinale will be in Milan starting tomorrow. Within a month or two at most, the 'stadium' project will be sorted and Milan will have to choose where to build its new home.
Gerry Cardinale's visit will help determine whether the new Milan stadium will stand inside or outside Milan's borders. There are no new face-to-face meetings confirmed with Giuseppe Sala, but none are excluded either. There are three alternatives to La Maura: first, the area of the former Falck steelworks in Sesto San Giovanni. It was among the first sites visited by Cardinale when Milan was still in Elliott's hands and remains the most easily accessible for several reasons (from the availability of the municipal administration to the accessibility). There is one complication: the million-dollar battle between Hines and Intesa, the bank that leads the group of financiers.
Finally, there are two other possibilities: one leads to the San Francesco area of San Donato, where the project for a sports citadel stands, the other leads to Assago-Rozzano, in the area owned by the Cabassi family. This is the site where Inter is considering building its stadium.
