Only 2 days are left until the first leg of the Champions League Euroderby between AC Milan and Internazionale. Head coach Stefano Pioli has gathered the team at Milanello for today's training session with great anticipation, especially regarding the condition of Rafael Leao, who suffered an injury during the match against Lazio last Saturday and stopped due to a thigh adductor strain. However, the Portuguese player is not the only unavailable one for Pioli, writes Calciomercato.com.
Sergino Dest is not on the Champions League list, but he trained separately today. Along with him, Alessandro Florenzi did not participate in the group training either, leaving only captain Calabria and Pierre Kalulu available for the right-back position.
Rafael Leao was notably absent from the group training session and did not receive any on-field personalised training. Instead, the Portuguese winger was seen working diligently in the gym, solely focusing on his rehabilitation without any field work.
While some may view this as a discouraging indication for a potential call-up, Calciomercato write that this is a calculated recovery process, rather than a setback. It is believed that careful and consistent monitoring of Leao's injury will be instrumental in his eventual return to full form.
