AC Milan are looking in the market for opportunities to improve the quality of the squad that is available to head coach Stefano Pioli in view of the next season. Quite a few names are already linked with a move to Milanello, such as central midfielder of AZ Alkmaar, Tijjani Reijnders, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.
Who is Reijnders?
Tijjani Reijnders is a Dutch football player born in Zwolle on July 29, 1998. He currently plays for AZ Alkmaar, a team in the Eredivisie. Reijnders began his career in the youth teams of WVF Zwolle before moving on to PEC Zwolle and FC Twente. In 2017, he was signed by AZ Alkmaar, where he made his first-team debut in 2018. In 2020, he played on loan for RKC Waalwijk before returning to AZ Alkmaar, where he extended his contract until 2027.
In the last season, the 24-year-old was one of the best-performing midfielders, scoring 8 goals and providing 11 assists in 54 appearances. He was truly irreplaceable for coach Jansen. Reijnders has also represented the Dutch Under-20 national team, earning 3 caps.
Technical Characteristics:
Tijjani Reijnders doesn't rely on speed as his main weapon, but he is an agile player. One of his main strengths is his vision on the field: Reijnders often plays with his head up.
As a natural right-footer, he possesses excellent individual technique but can also use his left foot with great skill, both in dribbling and shooting. Born as a central midfielder, the former RKC Waalwijk player has also played as a defensive midfielder and an attacking midfielder.
He often takes shots from mid-range and is an excellent infiltrator. He can be a very uncomfortable opponent for opposing defenses due to his continuous runs into the penalty area.
