Premier League side Newcastle are making serious effort to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan. The interest of the Magpies is concrete. According to what is reported by Calciomercato.com, the English club has already made an offer to the Rossoneri management last week: a fee around 55 to 60 million euros including bonuses was sent.
The offer is an important one financially. However, AC Milan are not letting their star leave, at the moment. Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani have rejected the initial attempt of Newcastle, but it is not excluded that a second offer will be sent. As for Tonali, he is not open to the idea of a transfer to the Premier League right now, but a lot will depend on what kind of deal he is offered in comparison to his current salary with Milan.
For context, the Italian midfielder was signed by AC Milan in the summer of 2021 by Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, renegotiating the terms with Brescia after a first loan deal: instead of initially agreed upon 15 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses for the redemption, the deal was reduced to 7+3 million euros and the inclusion of young Giacomo Olzer. Tonali had reduced his salary to 1.2 million euros per season. This figure doubled with the renewal signed in September 2022, raising his salary to 2.5 million per year (today it stands between 3 and 3.5 million including bonuses), with a contract expiration set for 2027.
