AC Milan are set to play against Genoa tonight away from home. But, it seems that Alberto Gilardino will not be able to field his star Mateo Retegui against the Rossoneri.
The knee contusion he suffered last Sunday in Udine in a clash that bothered him throughout the week, preventing him from training regularly with the rest of his teammates, has not yet completely healed.
The injury, while not of serious nature as indicated by recent medical checks, will prevent Retegui from taking the field tonight and also participating in the double commitment of the Italy national team against England and Malta.

To make up for his absence, Alberto Gilardino has been studying various tactical solutions in recent days. In the end, however, the former AC Milan player now-turned coach is likely to opt for a sort of disguised Christmas tree formation, without just one center-forward. Up front, there will be room for a mobile trident, full of creativity in which Gudmundsson, Malinovskyi, and the designated striker Messias will be called upon to exchange positions between the attacking midfield and the forward line. Behind them, a very muscular midfield composed of the irreplaceable Frendrup and the sturdy Thorsby, with either Badelj or Strootman completing the package, as per Calciomercato.com.
In defense, the Bani-Dragusin duo will once again be the shield in front of Martinez, with De Winter and Vasquez acting on their respective sides, right and left.
